Founded in 2018, Queer Frontiers was set up as a statement of ARTIQ’s solidarity with LGBTQ+ artists from all around the world.

The inaugural year saw the leading art consultancy take over a pop-up space on iconic Old Compton Street - supported by Pride in London - to provide a platform and showcase the outstanding talents of a diverse range of international artists.

Back, bigger and better than ever, ARTIQ will join forces with award-winning insurer and patron of the arts Hiscox for the 2019 edition, showcasing work by LGBTQ+ artists and allies, from painting and photography, to sculpture and screenprints.

For our 2019 edition, we invite entries that celebrate our shifting world and growing awareness around notions of pride, community, and social progress.

This could include works responding to the theme of:

Diversity, Inclusion, Equality, Creativity, Optimism, Kindness

A selection of work will be showcased at a pop-up exhibition in a central London location to coincide with Pride week. Proceeds will go to the Albert Kennedy Trust and Switchboard.

ARTIQ was set up in 2009 by CEO Patrick McCrae with the aim of bringing great art to great spaces by facilitating the commissioning, buying and renting of art in the public and private domains.

The ARTIQ team is creative and diverse, consisting of experts in installation, curation, artist liaison, logistics and arts marketing. The company works in the UK and internationally and represents some of the most exciting and dynamic up-and-coming artists and established talents, as well as having access to collections from institutions including The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery and The British Library.

Giving artists not only great exposure, but a fair deal, is key to the company’s ethos, ensuring that clients become not only art collectors, but art patrons too.

About Hiscox

Hiscox is an international insurance group listed on the London Stock exchange and headquartered in Bermuda. We employ 3,300 staff across 14 countries and 34 offices.

We’re not only a major insurer of art, but, for around 40 years we’ve been collectors and enablers of it as well. Our collection hangs in our offices around the world and we believe it inspires our teams. We acquire works by living artists, and also from time to time sponsor public exhibitions and college prizes which is why we are so pleased to be supporting Artiq as sponsor of this year’s “Queer Frontiers” pop-up art exhibition during Pride week in London.

“Celebrating Pride wherever you are means different things to each of us. For me it’s about accepting who you are and loving yourself for all of your incredible uniqueness. Please enjoy the exhibition and have fun at Pride.”
